If you want to see authentic works by some of Thailand's
best artists, visit the new Art Rendez-vous Gallery in Phuket City. This
intimate gallery, launched in December 2007, features unique works of
art by some of the most enterprising and dynamic artists in Thailand.
Located in Yaowarat Road, the gallery is one of the new upmarket, professional
outlets that is making Phuket City the home of fine art on the island.
Visit the double-level gallery and you are bound to be surprised by some
of the interesting artworks on offer.
Owner Patrick Bois, a Frenchman who has lived in Thailand
for the past 15 years, ensures that the gallery has a mix of works by
both undiscovered and established Thai artists, as well as creations by
foreigners living in Thailand.
"I decided to establish the gallery to promote local artists, who
are creating some excellent works and deserve to be given a wider audience,"
says Patrick. Regular exhibitions are held on the ground floor of the
gallery, while the first floor offers a range of work by established artists,
art deco pieces and interesting murals.
There is one rule - no copies. Everything on display
is unique and exclusive. Patrick travels extensively in Thailand to find
up-and-coming artists and is well-connected in the local community, giving
